Who we are
SolutionHunt (solutionhunt.in) is a directory where people discover business products, services and AI tools, and where companies list what they offer. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with and the choices you have. In this policy, “SolutionHunt”, “we” and “us” mean the operator of solutionhunt.in.
We process personal information in line with India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and the Information Technology Act, 2000. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection also apply, and SolutionHunt is the controller of your personal data.
For privacy questions or requests, send us a message through the contact page and mention “privacy” in your message. You can also download your data or delete your account yourself from your account page.
Information you give us
- Account details: your name, email address and password, or your Google account name and email if you choose Continue with Google. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us.
- Profile details you choose to add, such as a short bio and website.
- Community activity: solutions you upvote or save, comments you post, and reports you make about comments.
- Listing submissions: company and solution details, images you upload, public contact details and private contact details that you provide for our review team.
- Ownership claims: the evidence you send to show you represent a company.
- Messages you send through the contact form, including your name and email address.
Information collected automatically
When you use SolutionHunt our servers receive standard technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. We use it to keep the service secure, prevent abuse (for example rate limiting repeated requests) and diagnose faults.
With your consent, we use Google Analytics to understand how people use SolutionHunt, such as which pages are visited, how visitors arrive and which device, browser and approximate location they use. It loads only after you choose “Accept analytics”, and you can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
We do not use advertising trackers or tracking pixels, and we do not build advertising profiles.
Cookies and local storage
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in, and Google Analytics cookies only if you accept them. Our cookie policy at solutionhunt.in/cookies lists every cookie and storage item, what it does and how long it lasts.
Business information from public sources
To build the directory we collect information about companies and their products from public sources: Product Hunt, Kerala Startup Mission, Infopark, Technopark, UL Cyberpark, and the companies’ own websites. This can include a business contact email address or the name of a founder when the company publishes it.
We use automated tools, including AI services, to read those public pages, summarise what a product does and check that a website is genuine. These checks decide which businesses we list; they do not make decisions about individuals.
We use this information because we have a legitimate interest in running a useful business directory. Contact details found this way are never shown publicly; we use them only to invite a company to claim and manage its listing. If we have information about you this way, you can ask us to correct or remove it, or object to its use, through the contact page. We delete unclaimed discovery records after 90 days.
AI assistants you connect
You can connect an AI assistant, such as Claude or ChatGPT, to your SolutionHunt account. The assistant then acts for you within the permissions you approve. We keep a record of the connection and a secured sign-in token, which expires after at most 30 days. The assistant’s provider handles what you send it under its own privacy terms. You can disconnect it in the assistant at any time, and deleting your SolutionHunt account removes every connection.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and let you sign in.
- To show your saves, votes, comments and listings, and to keep unique vote counts accurate.
- To review submissions, publish approved listings, request changes and verify ownership claims.
- To moderate content, investigate reports and enforce our Terms of Use.
- To send service emails you need, such as email verification, password resets, submission receipts and review decisions. We do not send marketing email.
- To respond to enquiries and requests you send us.
- To meet legal obligations and to establish or defend legal claims.
Our legal bases under the GDPR are: performance of our contract with you (your account, listings, claims and the service emails they need); legitimate interests (keeping SolutionHunt secure, preventing abuse, moderating content, and building the directory from public business information); consent (analytics cookies, which you can withdraw at any time); and legal obligations.
What is public
Approved listings, including company and solution details, approved images and public contact details, are visible to everyone. Your display name appears next to comments you post, and vote counts are shown on listings.
Private contact details you provide in a submission are visible only to you and to authorised SolutionHunt administrators. They are never shown on public pages or returned to other members.
Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent personal information. We share it only as needed to run SolutionHunt:
- Neon, which hosts our database, authentication and image storage.
- Vercel, which hosts the website.
- Google, if you choose to sign in with Google, and for Google Analytics if you accept analytics cookies.
- Firecrawl, Google (Gemini), OpenRouter, Mistral AI and TypeSafe, which read and summarise public business websites for the directory. They process public business information, not your account.
- Our email delivery provider, to send the service emails described above.
- Authorities or other parties when the law requires it, or to protect the rights, safety or property of our users or SolutionHunt.
- A successor organisation if SolutionHunt is reorganised, merged or sold, which will remain bound by this policy for the information it receives.
Websites linked from listings are run by their providers and have their own privacy practices. Review them before you share information with a provider.
Where your information is stored
Our database and file storage are hosted in Singapore. Our service providers may process information in other countries, including the United States. When personal data of people in the EEA, UK or Switzerland is transferred to countries without an adequacy decision, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK addendum) offered by our providers. When information leaves India, we rely on providers that protect it to a standard consistent with this policy and applicable law.
How long we keep it
We keep account information while your account is active. When you delete your account, your votes, saves, comments, claims, drafts and sign-in are deleted straight away; listings you published stay without your name or private contact details. If you ask us to delete your account instead, we do so within 30 days. We keep a limited record only where we need it to meet a legal obligation, resolve a dispute, prevent abuse or enforce our terms.
Moderation and audit records may be retained for up to 12 months. Contact form messages are kept for up to 12 months after the enquiry is resolved. Draft submissions you abandon are kept until you delete your account.
Your rights and choices
- Access and portability: download a copy of everything we hold about you, in a machine-readable file, with “Download my data” on your account page.
- Correction: edit your profile at any time from your account, or ask us to correct anything else.
- Deletion: delete your account yourself with “Delete account” on your account page, remove individual votes, saves and comments, or ask us to delete information.
- Restriction and objection: ask us to limit how we use your information, or object to processing based on our legitimate interests, including the business information we collect from public sources.
- Withdraw consent: change your cookie choice at any time with “Cookie settings”, or withdraw any other consent. This does not affect processing that already took place.
- Nominate: you may nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of death or incapacity.
- Complaints: if you are unhappy with how we handled your information, contact us first. You may also complain to the Data Protection Board of India or, in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, to the data protection authority where you live or work (in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office).
We may need to confirm that a request comes from the account holder before acting on it. We respond within one month, and tell you if we need longer for a complex request.
Security
We use encrypted connections, access controls that limit private data to authorised administrators, and storage that keeps uploaded images private until they are approved. No online service can be completely secure. If a breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
Children
SolutionHunt is a business directory for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as SolutionHunt changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect.
